What to watch out for when cleaning natural stone

Natural stone products stand for durability, even for eternity. To keep their appearance and condition for as long as possible, the stone needs the right care and protection. Read here how to go about cleaning it and what to watch out for.
  • Avoid cleaners that are not intended for stone
To keep the stone looking beautiful and well kept for a long time, use cleaning products intended for this material. Cleaners with a high pH, bleach and the like are unsuitable because they can discolour or otherwise damage the stone. There are special care products for the daily cleaning of natural stone, which you can also get from us. In addition to a mild cleaner, you need a soft microfibre cloth that will not damage the surface.
  • Clean heavily used areas regularly
Every home has areas that are used more than others. They get dirty faster and so need cleaning more often. This is the only way to stop dirt from becoming ingrained.
  • Polished stone surfaces need more care
The surface of natural stone can be flamed. This is slip-resistant and is mostly used outdoors. Polished surfaces, on the other hand, are mostly used indoors. They need more care than flamed ones. A heavily used floor of polished natural stone must be cleaned regularly, as this is the only way to keep its shine. Spilt perfume or alcoholic drinks can also dull the shine. Don’t worry: the shine can be restored.
  • Damage from abrasion
Sand and dirt can leave scratches, especially on polished surfaces. We therefore recommend a doormat at the entrance. It keeps coarse particles off shoe soles and reduces the risk of damage.\n\n \n\nOtherwise, natural stone is quite easy to care for.
