Timeless
beauty
and durability
Stone has formed over millions of years. Natural stone flooring is extremely hard-wearing and wear-resistant. Stone is not only beautiful but also environmentally friendly and easy to care for, so it stays useful and beautiful for a long time.
At Marnit you will find a wide choice of natural stones for your courtyard.
Granite
Beauty that lasts
Granite is one of the most versatile natural materials. Thanks to its hardness and durability, it has its place not only indoors but also outdoors. For outdoor floors, granite is often the first choice. Outdoor surfaces need tough materials, because besides everyday use they are exposed to changing weather. Stains, chemical and mechanical damage cannot harm granite, and it copes with changes in temperature and weather too. At the same time, granite paving brings natural charisma, adds visual value and brings its surroundings to life.
Granite slabs come in many colours, veining patterns and price ranges.
Travertine outdoor paving
Thanks to its robustness and timeless beauty, travertine is a frequent choice for outdoor architectural projects. Important buildings have been made from it since ancient times, and modern projects would be unthinkable without it. Weather and external influences cannot harm this rustic stone, so your outdoor area stays beautiful for years. Elegant travertine paving stones are suitable for garden paths, courtyards, driveways and terraces.
Available in many shades, from earth tones and light beige to dark brown and warm grey.
Sandstone paving stones
Sandstone suits outdoor spaces beautifully. A courtyard with attractive sandstone paving completes its surroundings. Sandstone floors are not only elegant but also very practical. Sandstone is an extremely tough stone that withstands any weather. It is easy to work, so it is often used for paving. Walking on it is like a stroll on a sandy beach.
Our range includes many types of sandstone. We are happy to show you which one suits your outdoor area.
Limestone
A versatile stone for any space
Limestone is known for its robustness and beauty. Limestone flooring suits any room, as it comes in many textures and colours. Because limestone is resistant to frost and wear, it is also ideal for outdoor use.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
CARING FOR STONE FLOORS
Caring for natural stone floors is not much work. Usually it is enough to wipe them with a clean, dry cloth. To keep the floor looking like new for years, it still needs regular care. Areas that often come into contact with liquids should be sealed regularly, so you avoid damage to the stone floor.
IS NATURAL STONE SLIPPERY?
That depends on the type of stone and the finish. Polished stones can be more slippery, so for outdoor paving and outdoor stairs we recommend matt or rough finishes (coarse brushed, honed or flamed). Visit our showroom and we will be happy to advise you.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NATURAL STONE AND CERAMICS
It is hard to generalise about the differences between natural stone and ceramics, because they depend on the stone you choose. In function the two materials are very similar, but they differ on a few points. Here is a comparison by area:
LOOK
- Natural stone offers unique veining and colours, because every slab is one of a kind. Your floor or wall coverings are therefore unmistakable. Natural crystals and minerals give the material visible depth, from every side.
- Ceramics is very versatile and offers a wide choice of colours, patterns and textures. Ceramic slabs can imitate natural stone, concrete, wood and more. The patterns do repeat, however, which can make them feel less unique. Because the surface is printed, the texture is not visible on the edges or the back.
DURABILITY
- Natural stone: Hard stones (granite, quartzite …) are highly resistant to heat, scratches, impact and stains. Softer stones (marble, limestone …) are more sensitive to scratches and acid stains, but with the right care you can avoid or reduce the risk. Every natural stone needs an initial sealing, which is done after laying. How often it needs resealing afterwards depends on the stone.
- Ceramics is hard-wearing and resistant to scratches, stains and heat. Tiles need no special care, but can be damaged by a blow to an unsupported edge.
PRICE
- Natural stone: Prices vary considerably depending on the type of stone. Natural stone can be cheaper or more expensive than ceramics.
- Ceramics also comes in different price ranges. The price depends on the quality and realism of the print. As a rule, products from the same manufacturer (whatever the look) cost about the same for the same texture and format. Matt finishes are cheaper than polished ones. Special finishes and 3D textures can cost a little more.
FORMATS, THICKNESSES AND FINISHES
- Natural stone: Tile formats vary, from standard sizes (30.5 × 61 cm or 40.6 × 61 cm) and the French pattern to special formats to order. Cutting from slabs to measure is of course also possible. Standard thicknesses for floor and wall coverings are 1.2 cm (indoors) or 2/3 cm (outdoors). Finishes: polished, brushed, honed and flamed.
- Ceramics: Tile formats vary, from standard sizes (60 × 60 cm and 60 × 120 cm) to large-format slabs. Cutting from slabs to measure is of course also possible. Standard thicknesses for floor and wall coverings are 8.5–10.5 mm (indoors) or 20 mm (outdoors). Finishes: matt, polished and special 3D finishes.
