Laying natural stone properly
Laying natural stone requires a great deal of knowledge, patience and expertise. If you are not sure you have all three, turn to professionals. Natural stone must be laid perfectly, as only then does it fully do its job.\n\nThere are usually two tricky points when laying: first, moisture that can form between the substrate and the natural stone tile; second, the choice of the right adhesive and its colour. We always recommend choosing a slightly lighter adhesive.\n\nThis is how our professionals lay natural stone:- First the load-bearing substrate is prepared: sufficiently consolidated and level. Falls for drainage and enough drains must not be forgotten. The finished height must also be taken into account and the substrate prepared accordingly.
- Then the chosen stone is laid. It must be dry and clean beforehand. Mortar or adhesive must cover the whole back of the stone, and the joints must be of even width.
- Finally comes grouting, the last step in laying natural stone tiles. The right products and methods are very important here, as are completely and evenly filled joints. As soon as the grout starts to set, the stone surface is cleaned: with circular movements, a little water and a soft sponge.
