Everyone wants to feel good at home and in the garden. Part of that is that the space we live in is always tidy and clean, and that includes floors. If your home has Ceramics , here are some tips on how best to care for them.
Caring for outdoor tiles
Ceramics are an excellent choice for outdoor areas such as terraces, steps and balconies. They make for a well-kept, attractive outdoor area. They are also popular because they are very hard-wearing and weather-resistant. To keep them that way, the right care is important.
Caring for outdoor tiles is usually not much work. For everyday care, sweeping them is enough, with a damp mop for heavier dirt.

Now and then, also use a special tile cleaner. This keeps the tiles looking good and functional. Avoid strong, aggressive and wax-based cleaners. As ceramics absorb hardly any liquid, such products can leave unsightly, permanent marks.
Before cleaning outdoor tiles, sweep them first or use a leaf blower to remove coarse dirt, leaves and small stones. This makes further cleaning easier and stops dirt collecting in the joints of the Ceramics .
Then apply a tile cleaner, scrub with a brush that is not too hard and rinse with clean water to remove dirt and cleaner residue.
Textured tiles take a little more effort to care for. We recommend cleaning them thoroughly with a pressure washer at least once a year.
Natural stone: limestone
For outdoor paving, Limestone is very popular. It is hard-wearing, resistant and non-slip, which is crucial outdoors. As limestone is porous and soft, care and regular treatment are all the more important.
For Limestone , use a soft cloth and special cleaning products, otherwise it can be damaged. Remove stains immediately so that they do not soak into the stone.
Caring for indoor tiles
Caring for Ceramics in the house works in much the same way as outdoors. Wipe the Ceramics with a dry cloth first to remove dust before mopping.
For lighter stains, a soft brush and warm water are enough. Rub with circular movements. For glossy tiles, dilute just under 100 ml of vinegar in about 7 litres of water and wipe the tiles with it.

This cleans them effortlessly and keeps their shine. For oil or other grease on the Ceramics , use a degreaser or a mixture of bicarbonate of soda and water. Leave it to work for a few minutes, then rub the stain away.
The most common mistakes when cleaning tiles
Because Ceramics are very resistant and easy to care for, you can hardly go wrong. But some mistakes do happen:
- The most common mistake: strong, corrosive cleaners that attack the surface.
- Cleaners containing bleach, which damage the joints.
- Steel wool or wire scourers, which can make tiles lose their shine.
- Reacting too late to spilt oil or red wine, which can cause permanent stains.
Ceramics really are easy to care for. If you follow our tips, you will enjoy the flawless appearance of your tiles for many years to come.
