Natural stone facades
Natural stone facades
In Slovenia, stone facades are most common in the coastal region (Primorska). The reason: the material is extremely durable, protects the building from severe weather and also looks beautiful.
Stone is a very durable natural material. A natural stone facade lasts many years without renovation. It is also wonderful to look at, livens up the whole building and makes it stand out.
You can clad the whole facade with natural stone or just part of it, as you wish. A stone facade can be fixed to the wall in two ways:
- The stone is fixed directly to the masonry with various binders.
- The stone is fixed on a substructure. This is also called a ventilated rainscreen facade and is the more common variant. The stone stands a few centimetres away from the wall.
Natural stone adds value to your property
Used correctly, natural stone adds value to your property, whether new or old. Many people associate natural stone with large, cold rooms. But natural stone is much more than that.
Other uses for natural stone
Outdoors, natural stone can be used in many ways. But when choosing, take the surroundings and climate into account. In very sunny locations you should not choose dark stone. It stores heat and gets very hot in summer. Bear in mind too that some stones are slippery, especially when wet. Do not lay such stones by the pool or other water features, otherwise there is a risk of falls and injuries.
For outdoor design, our customers most often choose granite, sandstone and travertine. Because of their properties, they are very popular for terraces, stairs, floors, walls and facades. They are hard, durable and weatherproof. They blend well into the surroundings and allow you to play with different patterns.
